When an American flag becomes worn out or torn, there is etiquette dictating how to respectfully remove, retire, and replace that flag. In partnership with the National Association of Counties, the National Flag Foundation, Florence County is making that process easier for its citizens with the installation of a flag retirement box in the lobby on the first floor of the County Complex, at no cost to the County or its citizens. Flags should be folded respectfully before being placed in the box. Florence County Facilities department will coordinate the proper disposal of the flags.
